Messy Girl

For those of you who don't know me very well, you need to know 2 things: I don't like food messes and I don't like my hands to be dirty.
The whole feeding Amelia solids has been a challenge for me. I wipe her hands off as soon as she gets food on them, I don't let her touch things until she's clean. Yeah, I'm not a whole lot of fun. Since she's been feeding herself finger foods, I've *tried* to be a little less OCD about the mess, but it still bothers me.
Last night I tried feeding her Stage 3 jarred foods for the 1st time. It was a HUGE disaster. She really didn't want to be spoon fed and was fighting me. So I started dropping the chunks of peas, carrots and potatoes on her tray and she fed herself. Um, it was MESSY. Wait, that deserves exclamation points...a LOT of them. It was MESSY!!!!!!!
I started wiping off her hands after each bite. Then she touched her head before I could clean her off. I freaked out! Of course, Amelia thought it was hilarious. It seemed the harder I tried to clean her off, the messier she got. At one point, I actually laid my head down on her tray in defeat. Amelia reached out with her messy hand and patted my head.
So, I did what I probably should have done in the 1st place...I got my camera & took pics!!!
Enjoy!

Yeah, I'm messy. You gotta problem with that?

See??? Chunks in the hair. Gross.

Names Day and Babcia's Visit

July 10th was Amelia's Names Day. Babcia came in from MI to help celebrate. We gave Amelia a wooden box from Poland. Babcia gave her a small wooden Polish box, and a rosary blessed by Pope John Paul II that belonged to Amelia's great grandmother. Mamaw and Pampaw gave Amelia a medal of her patron saint. What a great 1st Names Day!
We had so much fun when Babcia was visiting! Enjoy the pics.

10 Months Old!

It's so hard to believe that Amelia is 10 months old already. I just don't know how it's possible for time to go by so fast.

We don't go back to the pediatrician until she's 1 year old, so we don't have "official" stats, but Amelia is TALL! We just switched her to 12 month clothes last month and those are already getting to be to short. So she's wearing some 18 month outfits!

Amelia is crawling all over the place. She loves exploring! She can pull to stand from just about everything, and can stand by herself for about 7 seconds. One of her favorite activities is standing at the window, and then walking from toy to toy.

Of course this post wouldn't be complete without pictures! Now that Amelia is mobile, it is super hard to get a decent picture...so enjoy the progression of her 10 month birthday! :)

I am 10 months old today!

This is my sign, I'll hold it any way I want!

Mom, don't you think we have enough pictures?

Last, but not least...we transitioned Amelia into the big tub. She was way too long for the Duckie. Here she is taking her first big girl bath (excuse my hot-mess self):

Happy 10 month birthday, Amelia!!!

Our Yankee Doodle Dandy

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

Our 4th did not go as planned, but we are learning that one of the "joys" of parenthood is rolling with the punches. We were supposed to head over to our friend's for a BBQ, but Amelia must have known it was a special day and REFUSED to take a nap. So we settled for Grandma & Grandpa's and then home to see what other surprises the day would bring!

She's coming to get me! (that's Amelia's determined "crawling" face)

Relaxing...it IS a holiday!

Amelia ended up "napping" right before her usual bedtime and was awake to watch the Macy's fireworks on tv. She stared at the screen and then would look at either me or Alex like, "Did you see that?!?" So cute.
She slept pretty good...the fireworks and storm didn't even faze her.
Here are random pics:

Who me? I could NEVER do anything wrong. :)

I don't think there's anything cuter than a baby wearing denim shorts...it just cracks me up!

Happy Father's Day!

Today is Alex's 1st Father's Day. We had a pretty great day!

I made breakfast and then we did presents. We spent the rest of the day at my parents.

Alex is such an amazing Dad! I watch him play with Amelia, or even just look at her, and the love he has for Amelia radiates from within him. She truly is the apple of his eye. Just as I couldn't imagine the depth of love I would have for my child, I couldn't imagine it was possible to love Alex more than I already did. But seeing him love our daughter has made me love him on a whole different level. Happy Father's Day to the man who gave me the world!

And....pictures!

I'm Crawling!

After months of faking everyone out, I started crawling Monday! I love crawling to my toys and to places Mommy & Daddy keep moving me away from, like the entertainment center. I keep hearing "no-no, baby" over and over...it makes me laugh!

The best part about crawling is that I can get to things that I can pull up on to stand. My music stage is perfect for this trick!

Getting ready to stand up

I saw my doctor on Tuesday for my 9 month check up. Although I've seen him lots of times, I cried and cried because he wasn't Mommy or Daddy. They call it "stranger anxiety" and the doctor says I'm going through it early. He was also impressed with all of my skills...crawling, trying to walk, using my 2 fingers to feed myself and pick things up instead of using my whole hand. He said that I'm very advanced!

I'm getting bigger. I now weigh 20 pounds, 13 ounces and am 29.5 inches long! I definitely take after Daddy. I guess that's why I'm in 12 month clothes already!

Other than being freaked out by the doctor, it was a good visit...no shots!!!

It's past my bedtime, so I'd better go. Hope you enjoy the pictures!
