6 Month Professional Photoshoot

Amelia doesn't have a good track record for getting professional pictures taken.

For her 1 month and 3 month/Christmas pictures, we went to JCPenney. They were running 30 minutes behind for at her 1 month appointment, so by the time we had them taken she was OVER IT. They took like 12 pictures of her. We lucked out because there were some really cute shots. The 3 month/Christmas picture appointment was a complete disaster. I think they took about 6 pictures, and only 3 were decent.

For Amelia's 6 month pictures we decided to have a photographer come to US. We thought a more professional photographer taking pictures in Amelia's own environment would make for much better pictures.

We were wrong...we got TOTALLY AMAZING PICTURES!!!

The very talented Brigid Robeen from Ramblin'Rose Photography took Amelia's pictures March 14, and we had a sneak peek of 4 pictures that evening. We received the DVD of the images just shy of 2 weeks later. Brigid is absolutely amazing and not only will we use her again, we recommend her to EVERYONE!

All of the pictures were fantastic, but here are a *few* of our favorites:

Play-date with Brendan...

Today we had a play-date with Brendan at Ian & Julie's house. It started off a little rocky. 15-minute nap + new surroundings + handing her off to someone else immediately = BREAKDOWN FOR AMELIA!!! We think she thought we were leaving her there or something.

Anyway, she slowly perked up. Brendan was super nice and shared all his toys with Amelia. She even got to bounce in a cool horsey bouncer! Julie gave her lots of goodies, including tons of pretty hair bows and head bands. In the end, a good time was had by all. Both kiddos (and parents) were mighty tired. Amelia fell asleep within 5 minutes of getting in the car and slept for 2 hours!!!

Enjoy the pics!

Eating chicken...

Since we'd worked through (basically) all the Stage 1 foods, fruits & vegetables, we moved on to Stage 2 foods today. Basically, we're introducing pureed meats.

The first one is chicken. It smells pretty ok, like chicken, but it looks totally gross. I don't know, the idea of pureed meats in and of itself is disgusting to me. But I move on... We're pumping Amelia up, trying to get her excited to try something new. She gets in her high chair, sees the spoon and makes her happy face. We're off to a good start. So I take a little on the spoon and let her eat it.
She wrinkles up her face, she gags...she HATES it! I give her a drink of formula from her sippy cup, to help get the taste out of her mouth so we can try it again.
Another spoonfull, same reaction. We gave her about 5 spoonfulls before we quit. Check out her funny "yucky" faces:
Just to prove that we haven't tortured our child, here's a pic of her shortly after.

We gave her more chicken for dinner. This time, I warmed it up and mixed in some applesauce. No pictures, but she ate it that way. She could tell something was different with the applesauce, but she ate it, no "yucky" faces.

1st Tooth!

Amelia has her 1st tooth!

I guess she's actually had it since Wednesday night. I didn't know when you officially considered the tooth "in" -- when it cut through the skin, or when it was visible from straight on. I've been told that it's when the tooth cuts through the skin, so she's had her first tooth since Wednesday! No pictures yet. The child won't sit still for that! I know the tooth next to this one will be poking through soon...we can see it below the surface.

Hard to believe that we have a little person with a tooth! And now she can bite us.

Amelia finished pears last week and we're currently on peaches. So far, so good. I'm really nervous about food allergies now that we had the reaction to bananas. I'm obsessed, actually. "Is her tongue swelling? Is she wheezing? Do you think she's OK???" Yeah, Alex thinks I'm crazy. I just want to be careful. After peaches we'll start meats...mmmmmm!

Our little girl is growing up! :)

Amelia's 6 month check up...

Today we took Amelia in for her 6 month check up. As usual, Dr. S said what a healthy, beautiful baby girl we have. He said that she has the head/neck control of an 8 month old! She's definitely growing...over 17 pounds and 27 inches.

The bad news is that she's allergic to bananas. We started them on Saturday, and everytime she would take a spoonful she would cry. Then yesterday while I was feeding her she broke out in hives, so I stopped feeding her the bananas. She didn't have difficulty breathing or any swelling in/near the mouth. The hives went away a few minutes after I stopped feeding her. Dr. S confirmed my suspicion that she is allergic to them. Eventually we will probably do allergy testing, and she will end up with an Epi-pen just in case. The good news is that bananas are easy to avoid.

Amelia also got her 6 month vaccinations. The first shot didn't even faze her, but the second one made her BLEED and she started screaming! Poor baby! She's been cranky all day, but we've been giving her extra kisses and cuddles.

We don't go back to the pediatrician until she's a year old, but we'll probably take her in at 9 months to get a height/weight check.

Overall, she's a normal, healthy, happy baby!!!

6 Months Old!

Amelia is 6 months old today!

Babcia is in visiting Amelia, so we had a little half birthday party for her with my parents and Aunt Marilyn. She was so cute in her little dress that Daddy bought her! Here are some pictures:

We see the pediatrician on Tuesday, so we'll know all her "stats" (weight, length, etc.) then, and will update the blog.

Update on the food situation...she has tried sweet potatoes, squash, peas, green beans, oatmeal, applesauce, and now she's on bananas. She really liked sweet potatoes and green beans, by oh my gosh, the girl LOVES bananas!!!!

It is so hard to believe our little girl is half a year old already! She is such a joy and she makes our lives so much better. We love you, Mimi!!!
